Happy`s Sushi - Mira Mesa in San Diego

I came today, they had the soft opening sign up, and the discounts advertised out front. So let's be clear, my 14 dollar roll was 9.8 bux the discount wasn't already added to the 14 dollars, so the reviews I just read are misleading. So the deals were awesome, where do u find this quality for this price?. Second, my server Steven gave excellent service. He was fast, friendly, he checked on me to see if everything was prepared to my liking, and did it with a smile. He offered the black garlic ramen and I picked my favorite spanish roll. All the food tasted great! Sushi was fresh, soup was super flavorful, add that to the great service and you get 5 stars. Well earned new management, well earned.

The wait staff is terrible. It took us 20 minutes just to get menu and then another 25 minutes just to get water and to take our order. The waitress checked on other people around us, but never us. They even took the other peoples orders after us within a shorter time frame. And the wait for the appetizer took about 25 minutes. It was just 1 appetizers. The only redeeming factor was the food. It was great sushi and the price wasn't bad. The time we got here was 7:30 and we didnt leave until 9. But keep in mind they didnt take our order until 8:10. Improve the wait staff and then I will give the place a 5 star. Take the food to go. Highly recommended. Don't eat in unless you plan on staying for more than an hour.

I ordered takeout from this restaurant because of good online reviews. When picking up the food, I learned that it was under new ownership for two months. This was my first visit. I only live 2 blocks away, but the food was awful. The Veggie tempura was tough and doughy. It almost seemed stale. The noodles in the yakisoba w chicken were gummy and had almost no flavor. What little flavor they had, was very weird odd. Not like any yakisoba I’ve ever eaten. The veggies were overcooked, not bright and fresh. The chicken was fully cooked, but very dark in color and didn’t have much flavor. All in all, a very disappointing experience I won’t be returning. I gave one star, because the food was ready on time and the server who helped me was courteous and polite. I’m not sure why it took so long for him to run my credit card though. 🙁

Great service and loved our items. They did the garlic edamame special with gluten free soy sauce. I had a tuna roll and salmon roll - I usually prefer simple rolls because of my allergies. They were pretty AND generous sized rolls. Very reasonable price. Would totally be a repeat customer!!

Menu is weirdly formatted. Price is good, food is good, service is good.

I place orders online and also eat at Happy Sushi. Customer Service is excellent. The sushi we order is always delicious! I highly recommend Happy Sushi!!!

Friendly neighborhood sushi bar, but currently in the doldrums of slow business and uninspired chefs. We've eaten here for years but, after two so-so experiences, we're going to take a break. Pricing is fair, but they list discounts in the menu, printed right in, such as "$12.00 roll, 50% off"... so list that as six bucks, Happy. WTH? Serving sizes are good and the restaurant is clean. The large sign on the building is often un-illuminated, making it appear to be closed from the street, so look for the small LED open sign in the window. Come to think of it, slow business might be related to the dark sign.

I went randomly for lunch one day. I was the only one there but the food was tasty. I would have like to get happy hour prices but they did offer discounts take for the grand reopening. Great service. Wish I could understand Japanese though. 5 stars

This is my go to sushi restaurant. The food always comes out quickly. The servers are so friendly and efficient. I love the house/garden salad and avocado rolls!

Best deals in town

They make excellent udon. The rolls are currently decently priced, but if they plan to raise their price, as their sign implies, it will be too rich for my blood. Regardless, the staff is friendly and attentive, parking is free and plentiful, and there's two tea shops in the same parking lot of you want dessert.

Good sushi, lots of other variety of food and amazing staff. Very cozy, always feel welcome like a guest. Got a bunch of sashimi and it was great, nice cuts of fish, fresh flavor.

This was my first visit and I enjoyed everything about it. The food came out quickly and tasted delicious, the restaurant is very clean and tidy, and the wait staff was extremely efficient and friendly. Will definitely stop by again when I’m in the area

Location is awful and you have to wait in line forever, but once you get inside, this place is amazing. The concept is perfect for a quick but lovely dinner (and is probably great for them business-wise cause turnover is basically at fast-food levels), and the hand rolls are perfect. I personally think it's best to find parking on the street, bu you can try the lot next door and pay. Again, be prepared to wait in line.

I was literally SHOCKED at the portion size of the sashimi! $19.99 seems like a pretty average price for 12 pc, but each piece was literally 3-4 times the size I have seen anywhere else. It also came with miso soup, a salad, and steamed rice. My wife's house noodle soup was delicious. The large 7" bowl was full to the brim and loaded with meat and veggies. All in all, Happy Sushi lives all to its name and provides diners with exceptional value and great service.

Such a hidden gem! Went here for date night close to home and was pleasantly surprised. The sushi chef and co-owner Kim is friendly, knowledgeable, and creative in his sushi offerings. The fish is hands down fresh, the service is fast and friendly, the ambiance is clean and newly remodeled from the last owners and the prices are fair. My hubby and I will be back soon! I want to add... they are currently in a soft opening, which means they are currently working out the kinks in terms of training service staff and figuring out what they want in thier final menu, so I urge you to have an open mind and have patience when trying them out until thier official opening next month!

We had tempura soup and a half-dozen sushi rolls, everything was excellent!

The food was okay. It took about 25 minutes or more to get your food when there is only 9 people in the restaurant. The waiter was nice and apologized for the wait. He was very attentive to see what I needed as I waited.
